There is a lot of jargon to wade through when talking about websites. We often find ourselves talking and saying things that make perfect sense to us, but the poor person we are talking to is completely lost! So we put this list together, to give you a brief but easy to understand explanation of some of the most used keywords
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of getting your site submitted into the main search engines, i.e. Google, MSN, Yahoo!. Backups This is where you create an online backup of the files that make up your site. This will allow us to restore your site to an earlier state should the need arise. This is useful for dynamic sites that regularly have changing content.

Content Management System ( CMS) This is a system designed to simplify the publication of Web content to Web sites, in particular, allowing content creators to submit content without requiring technical knowledge of HTML or the uploading of files. This will allow you to update text and images on your site without needing to know the tricky code we use.

Domain Name: A domain name is an identification label used by the internet to identify your website on many levels but put quiet simply it is the name you give your site.

Static Website: A static web page is a web page that always comprises the same information.
Dynamic website
Dynamic website: Dynamic sites are those where the content and design live separately. This set-up is ideal for those who wish to make frequent changes to their websites including text and image updates. Dynamic sites are also great for image galleries, online calendars or e-commerce, etc.

IMAP and POP Email
IMAP and POP Email: Pop emails are the most commonly used. The main difference between POP and IMAP, is that IMAP allows you to sync your email between different computers, ie a laptop and a desktop. Messages are stored on the server and can be accessed from different machines. POP emails are best suited to users who will only use one computer to access their email.
